Alexandra Maria Lara is a Romanian German film and TV actress famous for her performance in film productions such as Downfall Youth Without Youth Control and Rush. Alexandra was the only daughter of Romanian actor Valentin Platareu. At the age of sixteen, she had obtained a few television appearances, for instance, the lead in Downfall Youth Without Youth Control. Her critically-acclaimed performance in the TV film that was made to air Der Tunnel paved way for some other memorable roles such as that as Adolf Hitler's secretary Traudl Junge. The role was in the commercially and critically highly successful Oscar nominated historical war film Downfall. Another Oscar nominated films featuring the diva include The Reader and Der Baader Meinhof Komplex. Over the years Alexandra was involved in numerous important international and national productions. These include British biographical Control Greek drama film The Dust of Time and the French documentary about the history of Napoleon in addition to other projects. Additionally, she was an active member of the Cannes Film Festival jury and Transylvania International Film Festival.
